the idea behind lbl is very simple. we keep getting sent music that we really want to own on vinyl, so weve decided to start pressing these tracks ourselves. everything we have scheduled has a club feel, but past that we think youd be hard pushed to pinpoint a specific style which dominates our releases. for our first release we have music from scott fraser (crimes of the future), people get real (join our club), jamie blanco (ess o ess) and joonipah (nixwax). we could list a whole load of meaningless genres to describe the music to you (machine house, neu acid, bashment techno and hi tek soca) but we think its best you just listen and make your own mind up. currently, all lbl releases will be limited to a pressing run of 300 copies

classic - back from 1997 !!

nelistening back, ‘interlude’ will feel like the perfect opening to ‘skylax’. a jazzy encore crawls in, morphing into a skippy hip-hop instrumental with jason’s signature flourishes all over it. aptly named as it is, this is the breathing space between whatever came before in your day, and the eleven deep house gems that are to follow. speaking of, ‘the love’ will have you gripped from the first bar. it glides the listener in, then subtly drops that signature, tightly-tuned bassline of jason’s and continues onto soulful vocals from there. ‘old dayz’ touches on a bit of a nostalgic note. the spoken vox cuts harken back to 90s hip-hop joints, playing over a looped latin sample-led beat. from there, ‘rawkicks 2’ shows jason’s rough and ready sampling style in action. a seemingly simple track, but one which has that special something which guarantees to keep people on the floor moving for its duration. ‘cut b’ contrasts this nicely, being a much cleaner production with tight drum programming and synth work. that said, it still has the classic jg atmosphere we love. closing out the first half of the album, ‘definition’ slows the pace ever so slightly, with its eternal pad structure that builds up the track’s momentum into something very mellow and deep.bringing in the second half of ‘skylax’, ‘john blue’ takes things back a notch further. a deeper tune, yet one that shows off an uncharacteristically punchy bass hit from jason. ‘last night’ is a track more reminiscent of jason’s first lost cuts ep on wax classic, sounding as if it had been freshly taken off an old tape with its sample-led beat and background hiss. the last four tracks of the album see a return to the ‘mastercuts’ and ‘lovedits’ series which fans will recognize from the ‘lost cuts’ records, with ‘lovedits 7’ and ‘mastercut 5’ respectively. the former is a laid back female vocal edit with the entire suite of signature jg touches while the latter is a garage house hit more crafted for the club. ‘bb’ brings the album to a close, twisting a disco/funksample over a pallet of drums and effects for the near six-minute duration of the track.all in all, this is the perfect follow up to jason’s debut album ‘313.4.ever’, with tracks for both the club and home listening. if you happened to miss the first album back in 2012, don’t forget that now you have the chance to grab it in a special double pack with ‘skylax’ on cd!so, needless to say, this timeless record is a must purchase for all collectors and djs out there

our friends in nyc follow up last years outrageously good my rules with the eagerly awaited second volume ! yah yah on the a is a totally addictive and louche epic, swathed in psychedelic disco layers, punctuated by vocal snippets and chants, underpinned by a broad bottom end and finished with some swirling synth lines on the flip woman offers us an equally dancefloor friendly workout, a crisp rhythm section powers along with an unrelenting funk low end and an ode to the fairer sex in the vocal dept, all liberally doused in acid punch, of course utterly essential ! as with c.o.m.b.i, keep it cheap and ny edits, you know these won t be around long and are destined to become cult classics

welcoming trikk to truesoul, he brings the quality we have come to expect from both label and artist. his ep starts with deeper point, a track that encompasses heavy techno sounds to create a monster of a track. straight circles (beat mix) repeats and detunes a vocal to engrain it into the memory before prominent highs keep this track moving. the final track bliss drive is different to the rest of the ep and has more of a garage feel to it the funky drums, earth shattering bass line and digital bleeps will knock you sideways!

russian producer sanys has impressed with a series of raw techno records on his downfall theory label - and his latest release further showcases his talents. dominance starts with atmospheric synth washes before a granular bass and relentless percussion propel it forward. like previous sanys releases however, this is not straightforward linear techno and a rumbling vocal and insistent drums will keep the listener engaged. my concern sees sanys opt for a different approach, with a pulsing bass and a crystalline synth line going up and down the scales, intertwined with a vocal snippet, while told you so features another stylistic shift. on this occasion, it s back to the darker sound that was audible on some of the earlier downfall theory releases. tight, snappy drums and robust, insistent claps provide the basis for a droning, murky bassline that cuts through the arrangement like a lighthouse rays in the dark of night. finally, irish producer eomac, one half of lakker, delivers a version of dominance that centres on lithe broken beats, ghostly melodies and insidious tonal shifts. as its title suggests, dominance shows sanys has become a master of the techno form.

act 83 and 86 are both powerful tools that are lead by acidic repetitive patterns and distortions.
act 100 contains a raw and strong beat that travels through cosmic and epic soundscapes.
as conclusion, act 63 is characterized by emotional melancholic melodies and brain-dance music, accompanied by succession of rousing rhythmic evolutions.

as we launch into a brand new year we also celebrate 10 years of salted with a bang! for our first release of 2014, migs lets loose with this tasty little morsel of goodness - already test driven all around the globe to many smiling faces and trainspotting reactions. an upfront stellar and punchy bassline is the star of the show with warm glowing synth pads and rubbery stabs to keep things bouncing. the classic chopped up vocal sample filters in while glittering strings entice the senses for an all around dance floor delicacy.

this time around is the long awaited follow-up to the succesful probe album by roswell return. the original is a mesmerizing piece of minimal electronic music, heavily inspired by composer steve reich. more than 10 minutes of pure synth bliss. on the b-side syncom data take it into deep techno territory with a shuffling and ridiculously low-end remix thats both warm and unsettling at the same time. deep basslines keep pushing everything forward, while the constantly rising church-like organ brings a nervous mayhem quality to it.

legit vinyl re issue of kerri chandlers 1996s seminal trionisphere ep part 1 on nycs king street sounds. this is a discogs holy grail but this newly re mastered version will sound better than anything else! pressed with original 1996 artwork. expect many more king street sounds re issues in the pipeline.
